What is Sculptra and how does it work?

For more information, click here. Gluteal augmentation has been around for a very long time, since the 1960s. In the 60s, surgeons began exploring different ways to enhance their patients' backsides. The first method was to implant a gluteal implant. Unfortunately, because it was new, a mammary prosthesis was used as an implant, which made it look odd. It was later discovered that implants that could create a more butt-like shape could be made either of semisolid elastomer or cohesive gel. This method was effective, but it also came with a large amount of discomfort and downtime after surgery due to incisions and general healing. The 1980s saw the introduction of another treatment method for increasing the volume of a patient's backsides, fat grafting. In fat grafting, fat is removed from one part of the body, typically the abdomen, arms, and thighs, and then injected into another part of the body, here the buttock. This procedure has been dubbed Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and does not require implant surgery, but still needs downtime.

By 2004, Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra) was approved by the FDA for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) positive patients to restore facial fat loss (lipoatrophy), in addition to improvement of other areas of the face and body. An alternative to surgical buttock augmentation, Sculptra is a non-surgical solution that involves the injection of Poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic polymer naturally found in the body. Within 15-25 months, the collagen produced by the product bonds to particles injected into the area, enabling them to break down naturally, which increases the area's size. Bruising, swelling, granuloma formation, discomfort, hematoma, and inflammation are possible risks and side effects, but there is no downtime following surgery.

The Procedure

The Sculptra procedure is very popular for people who wish to have a larger backside without going through surgery. An expert in cosmetic and laser medicine, Dr. Schwarzburg is the owner of Skinly Aesthetics in New York, and says the number of people undergoing Sculptra significantly increased over the past five years. Dr. Schwarzburg says it works almost like a facial filler, except that instead of building volume through water, it builds volume by stimulating your own collagen production. This is done by injecting Sculptra into the buttock and spreading it throughout the cheeks with the help of a cannula (a long hollow needle). It begins stimulating collagen production once the injection is completed. It then wraps around particles in the body that would have naturally broken down, and in time (2-3 months) grows in the area that was injected.

What Happens Post-Procedure

As the body breaks it down, the Sculptra compound begins to dissolve as soon as it is injected. It is a completely normal part of the treatment. Although it seems disappointing to see the volume of the compound added to the buttocks disappear, this only indicates that the treatment is actually working and the body is responding as a result.

Sculptra compound is dissolved in the body and replaced by natural collagen. Thanks to the Sculptra compound, collagen production is boosted in the area where it is injected. The collagen in your body helps strengthen and build up its structural integrity. What keeps you whole is basically what keeps you whole. In addition to the collagen lifting up the buttocks, the compound is no longer necessary since your body accentuates the curves on its own.

However, with the Sculptra compound totally gone, you will still have those gorgeous curves and the buttocks will remain full.

How the Results Look

Apart from the actual procedure and all of the follow-up: what is the outcome of this study?

Patients worry about the outcome of cosmetic treatments. It is only natural that we feel this way if we have been wrongly led to believe that cosmetic treatments cannot bring about genuine results. If you have looked at any internet photos of celebrities and famous individuals with those plastic-looking posteriors, you are sure to know their unappealing appearance. There is a danger of falling into the trap of believing that your results will look the same after seeing too much celebrity news.

In most cases, however, this is not true since careful observation and an online search will reveal exactly how natural the results of Sculptra can be. The injections are designed in such a way that the posterior will appear bigger while maintaining its natural shape and symmetry. The experience of your practitioner is crucial here. Nevertheless, a cosmetic specialist with enough experience and the right qualifications can surely enhance the appearance of your butt without sacrificing its authenticity.

A Guide to Finding the Right Sculptra Provider

As Sculptra is popular across the country, locating a Sculptra specialist should not be difficult. It is one of the most popular treatment plans offered by many cosmetic sensors, and countless patients have been treated with this compound. You just have to look in the right place and for the right factors.

When choosing a cosmetic practitioner, the most crucial factor is experience and qualifications. Most clients are always concerned with getting the right price, but you also need to understand that your specialist knows what they are doing and has the experience to know what is right. Do not chase after prices. Look for someone who will understand your needs and is able to demonstrate success in reaching the desired results.

Ask your colleagues, friends, or family members for recommendations for a local practitioner with years of experience. Talk to other people who have experience with the sculpture and find out what their thoughts are on the results. After a little research, you will figure out exactly what you need and be able to get the buttlift of your dreams.
